i hate winter

so i know we just had christmas vacation and all, but i'm going away on monday for vacation vacation for 3 whole weeks! no where particularly warm, but definitely warmer than here & where i won't have to worry about driving in the snow. so, this weekend will be your last chance for frozen meals, salads & sweets until february 7th!

i figure that most people made some resolutions over the holidays so i tried to make some healthier freezer meals this week.

first up was a big batch of vegan vegetable curry. i absolutely love making curry and developing the flavour all the way from the garlic & ginger base to the lime & cilantro finishing touches. this batch has cauliflower, sweet potatoes, baby potatoes, chickpeas, green beans, red peppers, tomatoes & spinach. the side dish is a quinoa & basmati combo seasoned with star anise & cardamom. it's vegan & gluten free.

small $9  large $18

then it was a giant batch of moroccan meatballs. the beef is from getaway farm so it's all grass fed & local. it's seasoned with ginger, sumac, coriander, parsley & chillies. the tomato sauce is jazzed up with fennel seed, dates, olives, lemon & honey. the veggies are roasted peppers, zucchini & swiss chard. it comes with a side of harissa quinoa with almonds, parsley & green onions. it's gluten free & dairy free.

small $10  large $20

there's also a paleo version. instead of the quinoa there's a whole whack of veggies & the addition of mushrooms. this version is nut free.

i made 3 types of salad this week too:

1. sweet potato: vegan, gluten free, dairy free, paleo

2. beet: vegetarian, cow dairy free

3. broccoli: gluten free, dairy free, paleo

of course there are lots of sweets too.

breakfast cookies
goat milk fudge
snickers brownies
maple walnut bars
peppermint bars
eggnog cheesecakes
cupcakes
gluten free cupcakes

i also made a gluten free cake earlier in the week. it had a combo of raspberry & grapefruit frostings & i was pretty pumped with how it turned out!

i have two more cakes to decorate tomorrow night after the market, stay tuned to my instagram & facebook accounts to see how they turn out.

well i hope to see lots of regulars this weekend, but if i don't, have a great rest of january & i'll see you on february 7th!

ok i think that's it for the food. i do, however, have a couple of announcements.

1. i have a new table at the market. it's just a couple of tables away from my previous spot - it's where pat's preserves used to be.
2. i'm going away again. i'll be out of town from january 12th - february 3rd. make sure to stock up this weekend & next before i peace out.

hope everyone had a fantastic holiday, happy new year & i'm really looking forward to cooking for you in 2015!
